My Okuma Celilo 9'6" Light Rod Arrived!

Okuma's Celilo Graphite Salmon/Steelhead Spinning Rod!

This is my second Celilo. Last week i got in a 9'6" Celilo for casting. This rod is my dedicated spinning rod. I do plan on adding a third, possibly a 5'6"/6' UL for fresh water spinning. My equipment has been geared-up for larger species & not "defined" for smaller game. I'm changing that.

This morning i was out spin casting my new favorite spinning combo. My 9'9" Mustad G-Series "HYBRID" Spinning Rod & my Olympus Accord 40 Spinning Reel. I was actually getting +80yd casting 30g Mezashi Jigs. The 10lb Eminent "Soft Steel" braid helped in reducing wind resistance. So I decided to get some older rods repaired & dropped them off with Bill Newton's shop at Ewa Beach in the meantime. Will be re-spooling well used line & lubing my most used reels. Getting ready for the summer. Also will be storing rigs i no longer use (man my storage locker is stuffed).

I do plan on using this rod a lot for catching bait. Davey at Okuma was kind enough to furnish me a Ceymar HD 1000. But for my new 9'6" rod it's on the small side. Will look into a spinning 3K reel instead. Thinking of using 6lb fluoro to a top shot 4lb leader with no swivel. Maybe the Ceymar HD 3000?
