Tamara Pellien (Ocean County 4-H Agent) and myself with Rutgers Cooperative Extension (RCE) are partnering with Captain Gene Nigro of the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) to host a:
- Marine ecology and fishing program for kids (grades 4-8) on August 3 and 7.

The first day of the program is on Saturday, August 3 from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM and includes in-class educational opportunities at the RCE of Ocean County with multiple speakers from RCE, IGFA, NJ Department of Environmental Protection, American Littoral Society, Clean Ocean Action, and more! This is a free session with lunch also provided with IGFA funding. However, there is a $25 deposit that is refundable upon completion of the program.
The second day of the program is a fishing trip on Wednesday, August 7.
This is a free fishing trip with funding from IGFA and includes lunch and round-trip bus transportation from the RCE of Ocean County.
The bus is scheduled to depart at 8:00 AM and return at 4:00 PM. Kids must attend the in-class portion on August 3 in order to go on the fishing trip.
The fishing trip will be aboard the Bingo from Atlantic Highlands, NJ (http://bingosportfishing.com/).
