Yes, they still build multi-service party - whale watch - ferry vessels at GULF CRAFT. This is one pic sent over taken in the shipyard as it is in the process of being finished....

The hull on that Blue Sea looks like it needs to be banged out some. Not too straight.

Nick, that particular Swiftships in Morgan City, LA., is hull No.25 built in 1971, and has as much aluminum in her that one could build two 77' foot Gulf Crafts....

Kirk.....its a good amount of cable in the water...
========================

Hull No.10 from St. Johns Shipbuilding, Palatka FL. in 1978. This was the original advertisement which I had since I was in high school when the boat was coming into the Bay. It was a party boat that was already a few years too late for its time, as Captain Fred Ardolino was chasing cod and pollock on the drying-up offshore wrecks.

The AMBERJACK V is still around in the Bay, and any one who has roughly 625k, can have the keys and title. It seems to be one of the longest listings still in the sheets...

The most noted in our region is this party boat and the pic below that was sent to me on APRIL 29 2018 @ YANKS, Hull No.1275 built in 1974. The brochure above did not have the MLB listed...

Here are two earlier image taken in March 2014...

By the way, the listing for one of the party boats above is now in:

So, you think you want to build a party boat?

Here are a few old estimates from various noted boat builders of that era...

All pics courtesy of Captain John Bogan...

Think of the year of this contract and the two noted Sheepshead Bay party boats that were built....

Image

Building a twin screw 12-71 powered, 80 x 22 Gillikin? This was interesting as this was written on regular loose sleeve paper over a few years difference....

Image

How about building one at DEPEND-A-CRAFT, like the original aluminum super cruiser from Sheepshead Bay. First page of six (on high quality durable writing paper too!) shown below.....

Here is something that was interesting which was sent over by Captain John Bogan...

Here is the only Lantana to come to Sheepshead Bay, but originally a Cape Ann Whale Watch boat built in 1977 given the name 'RANGER V' and then to our neck of the woods here for a short period of time as the last true Ranger party boat for Captain Mike Scarpati before re-locating to her dock at Rose Marina, Gloucester MA.....

That's not "too bad." A cut here, there and we can fix that....
