FEB 10, 2019 - A VERY, VERY QUIET SUNNY SATURDAY IN PT. JUDITH

A very big thanks to Captain Chris of the fv CODZILLA who took a few snapshots yesterday down at the dock in Pt. Judith this past Saturday (yesterday). What is surprising was that it was a nice sunny days with just a little wind, yet the whole fleet was tied to the dock at a time of the year when the winter Block Island cod fishing is normally the most productive as far as the amount of fish that can easily be caught. Let's see what Captain Chris has for us...

No picking of pots and working your gear today as the Pt. Judith party boat fleet sits quietly with no cars in the lot in the front of the boats....

The lobster boat fleet is tied to the dock on this very low tide....

The very striking "Captain Frances" on the hard in Snug Harbor...looks like they are doing a complete re-fit....

Ah, a very good reason for any captain to check their vessel if sitting in the water during the winter. Start pumping boys....

Oh boy...these guys are not out fishing today? The IC 3 is locked up at the dock. It goes to show you with the sun shinning on this Saturday, their is little else to do other than to check lines, sip your coffee and pray that St. Patty's Day comes soon. This long winter continues to drag on and on.....

Not sure why the Lobster boats not out but from speaking to Capt Chris on Island Current and reading the Viking reports reports till they shut it down and reading Frances reports the reason is obvious

The Codfishing is TERRIBLE

If I was running up there I'd be going for bergalls. Plenty of 13 in plus fish and no limits.
