HOLIDAY from Point Pleasant Beach, NJ
Captain Jack Endean's second party boat named "HOLIDAY" from Point Pleasant Beach, NJ circa 1972. The boat was built 1969 by Stevenson Boat Works at Great Kills, Staten Island, NY as the "SEA MIST" from Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, NY and later became Jack Endean's "HOLIDAY". It then sailed as Ron Santee's third party boat named "FISHERMEN" from Atlantic Highlands, NJ and after nearly fifty years of service presently sails as Chris Altbacker's "FISHTALE" from Captree, NY. The photo is courtesy of Skip Tonks.
Along with our Holiday Edition photos, we have posted a Memorial Page for the late Captain Norm Mordaunt who passed away on July 29, 2017. Captain Norm was one of the most experienced and gifted captains on the New York Bight. He was well respected in the party fishing industry and when Captain Norm was at the helm there was never a concern.
For over forty years, Captain Norm operated many familiar party fishing boats at Belmar, NJ, at Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn and at other ports in New Jersey. Here are some of the boats he operated… AMERICAN EAGLE, CAPTAIN AL, FURY, GOLDEN EAGLE, OPTIMIST, OPTIMIST QUEEN, RANGER V, RANGER VII, RIVER BELLE, RIVER QUEEN, SEA FOX, SEA JET and TAMPA III.
Over the last 14 years we have posted more than 1,700 vintage photos of party fishing boats, fishing memorabilia, marinas, lightships, lighthouses and other interesting stuff from the New Jersey and New York saltwater fishing scene on our Mike's Maritime Memorabilia pages . We encourage you to browse these wonderful pictures and enjoy over 150 years of our fishing heritage.
