The BERGALL!!!

Postby captjoekingcod » Sun Apr 11, 2010 5:44 pm

I always hear talk about possible world record size bergalls, of 3lbs or so being caught on some deep water wreck or out on cox's.

Just wanted to show off this behemoth caught by my son Joey Jr. on a wreck in 190ft. of water SE of Moriches, during the fall of 2008. Joey was 9 years old at the time.

Weighed just a shade under 7lbs. on my hand held brass scale. :o

Your right....Captain Tim Tower of the f/v BUNNY CLARK always talks about 'special fish'. I must say that might be one of the most special fish I have ever seen caught in this region.

Really something else Joe!!!!!

I want to believe it and I am not doubting it and there is a picture, but it's so much bigger than the current record. Almost twice the size! I know fish in the 4 pound range have been caught, but this one is an oddity.

That Bergall is so big it looks like a Parrot Fish. Both are in the Wrasse Family.
