It make's you wonder why the those at the NYS DEC Bunker cannot start a program such as this......

Advancing Fishery Dependent Data Collection for Black Sea Bass (Centropristis striata) in the Southern New England and Mid-Atlantic Region

Project goals:

- Collect and communicate critically needed black sea bass data (catch and effort, bycatch, and biological) in a cost effective way using modern electronic technology and fishermen’s time on the water.

- Contribute to the improvement of the northern Atlantic black sea bass stock assessment.

- Develop a model approach for fishery dependent data collection that involves the commercial and recreational fishing industries.

Its too easy for the NYS DEC to hide behind the "best available data" shield!

If the pandemic didn't destroy the fishing industry , DECs inaction will!

Fishermen do not know how poorly managed the NYS Marine & Coastal DEC is, and it has become much worse with Director Gilmore and Chair Mike Frisk....
